About Bhiksha:

Bhiksha simply means alms. Our Scriptures state that Brahmacharins and Sannyasins seek Bhiksha from Devotees and Householders. They do not cook for themselves. Thus it becomes our Dharma to provide Bhiksha. Merely the presence of Brahmacharins and Sannyasins sanctifies our very Being. The attitude with which we provide Bhiksha is of utmost importance. While we provide food to sustain the body of the Sannyasins, we ask for the Jnana Bhiksha (Alms of Spiritual Knowledge, Devotion, and Dispassion) from them.

Families generally sign-up in pairs to provide lunch on their designated day. Bhiksha lunch quantity should be sufficient for 12-14 people. The family is welcome and encouraged to stay for lunch with Swamiji and other Vedanta teachers, but is not required to. Many families drop the food off mid-morning.

Swamiji’s Bhiksha Guidelines

Camp families can offer Bhiksha to Swamiji during the course of the camp. Please CONTACT US for more information

NOTE: Bhiksha offering to Swamiji is NOT A MANDATORY requirement for your child to attend the camp.

Our Camp is not designed for a child of 5 years old even if the child is a rising first grader. The child must be 6 years of age to attend camp.

Refer to the above question’s answer.

All children whether they are Chinmaya Mission members or not are welcome to attend camp.

As the camp activities are planned for four weeks children do not benefit from camp if they leave camp early. Given this we encourage all students to attend all four weeks of camp and give priority to full-time camp students..
